A golden Sunday evening felt like the perfect moment for Paul Smith to show his Spring/Summer 2013 collection in the cavernous, concrete space at Central Saint Martins' new Kings Cross campus. This man knows how to make women feel good - sexy, smart, beautiful - in their clothes. Trousers were sublimely cut to fit and flatter, heels were chic but walkable. It was there in the scrunch of a blazer sleeve, the crispness of the pleats on a chiffon dress, the neatness of a buttoned up silk shirt - he just gets it. The colour palette of this collection was bold and strong; tomato red, mustard, emerald green, crisp white and pure black, all presented in contrasting panels and blocks to highlight the clean, elegant lines of the clothes. Models' hair was neatly slicked back into simple buns while the focus of the face was a vivid orangey-red lip. A special mention goes to the delectable footwear: mannish flats with buckles and heels with delicate ankle straps and patent panels oozed refined elegance and looked really comfortable too! Paul Smith does sexy in his own inimitable way - a navy lace shirt featured yellow piping down the sleeves and strategically-placed pockets to protect the wearer's modesty. There was a relaxed glamour in the boxy, cropped trousers (always worn with hands stuffed nonchalantly into pockets) and floaty sleeveless dresses with flowing skirts and neat pleats.
