Touted as one of last season’s ‘Ones to Watch’ design duo Nova Chiu (comprising of Miss Chiu herself, plus boyfriend Jeff Archer) once again provided a positive rainbow of colour in their most recent collection. The show opened with a short film, depicting fields of green, running waterfalls, open roads and cityscapes, all to be found adorning the clothes which then followed. In a decidedly more feminine move from last season’s crazy yet cosy Peruvian textural knits (and those wonderfully large fluffy earmuffs) designs came in flowing silky materials forming elegantly cut dresses, both mini and maxi. Intriguing sunset skies, underwater worlds and everything in between illustrated clothes which were vibrant, unusual and unique. A pair of skin-tight leggings contrasted with the over-sized fluid top which joined them, some silky creations gathering and ruching which only heightened their similarity to water. Key pieces were a vivid trouser suit with highlights of neon pink - comprising of a deep V tuxedo jacket and loose peg-leg pants. Another being a legging and long jacket ensemble, a panel of the coat consisting of yellow flower-like ruffles, adding a texture of which Nova Chiu is well known. In a nod to last season’s South American vibe, sequinned shoes were finished with multi-coloured dangling beads, allowing the colour to exude from top to toe.
