If pampering, pedicures and private coves feature high on your must-have holiday list then Hillside Beach Club, Fethiye, Turkey should be flashing on your radar. Nestled within the Turkish hills, this five-star resort benefits from the most serene of locations – pine trees on one side and the sparkling Mediterranean sea on the other – whilst delivering holiday luxuries normally associated with higher price tags.
Located on Turkey’s South Coast just outside of Fethiye, Hillside Beach Club sprawls down the hillside, hence the name. Boasting 330 rooms that span five accommodation levels, the resort utilises the natural surroundings to it’s advantage yet remains sympathetic to the coastline. Even from a speeding catamaran out in the bay (a must-do activity we say) this resort looks at one with the stunning pine tree backdrop.
Building the resort with the guest’s lifestyles in mind, two secluded beaches act as the bookends for Hillside. The first, Silent Beach, welcomes early risers for sunrise yoga, followed by those in search of tranquility throughout the day. The other, Serenity Beach – a five minute boat ride or fifteen minute walk away – charms with it’s hippie vibe and daily bbq (we enjoyed freshly grilled chicken served in a warm pitta), the perfect light but tasty lunch. Both of these beaches are adult only but don’t start to panic if you’re a proud owner of children as they have their own haunts to enjoy. Little ones aged 4-7 years can enjoy all the fun and frolics of the supervised Kidside whilst the older pack can hone their DJ skills at the Activity Club centre. Both of these clubs can leave you happily redundant and free to enjoy your ‘adult only time.’
Tucked away behind Silent Beach lies Sanda Nature Spa – Hillside’s tree house haven. Here a menu of Eastern inspired treatments tend to your beauty and health needs as the tranquil backdrop works on your senses. Feeling rather tense and achy from London life, Glam opted for 60-minutes of deep work and smoothing. We left on cloud nine!
Inside Hillside’s central area you’ll find Sanda Spa, the sister to Sanda Nature Spa. Here another long menu of treatments care for your pampering needs, but for those in search of authenticity, opt for the Turkish Hamman. Involving rubbing, scrubbing – at times with ice – and lathering all over, whilst you lie in just your bikini bottoms, so this is not one for the modest. This treatment may not be to everyone’s taste but we can vouch for the results; baby soft skin and an invigorating glow!
To compliment the spas, a daily program of yoga, pilates and stretch takes place around the resort. This is best enjoyed on Silent Beach – the Sanda Nature Spa therapists treat you to a mini-shoulder massage and ginger tea post class – however, the yoga deck also benefits from stunning views.
Sun-junkies will not be disappointed by the options available to soak up the rays. With four beaches on offer (Silent Beach, Main Beach, Pacha Beach and Serenity Beach) finding a comfy sun lounger is never a problem. And for those who prefer to avoid the pebbles there’s two floating decks – equipped with ultra comfy cushions – and the stunning infinity pool to choose from.
Nighttime in Hillside continues on from the success of the day. Around the resort you’ll find three unique dining options. For quick and easy eating, the main restaurant offers a medley of Mediterranean cuisine that more than pleases. Unlike other hotel buffets, eating healthily here is never a problem. Freshly grilled fish and salads are in abundance. But if pasta is what you crave, head to the Beach Bar Restaurant. We were overjoyed to discover an Italian restaurant away from home that doesn’t kill the pasta (we recommend the pumpkin tortellini). Feeling romantic? Pasha on the bay more that satisfies. White clothes tables complete with flickering candles line the dazzling sea edge and the menu of traditional Turkish tapas tends to your gastro-needs.
For those looking for a little more than just rest and relaxation head to the weekly Pasha Disco. The DJ spins the decks with euro favourites whitls the bar flows – no stingy measures here!
But if R&R is what you are after then your room provides the perfect ending to the day. Opening the door to the Superior room (we’d recommend paying that little bit more) a surprise unfolded. The outside door led into our own private outdoor-indoor lounge complete with a comfy sofa and sea view. Here we spent most evenings reading a chapter or two before retiring to the humungous bed. However, as much as these two combined made our stay, a second surprise in the bathroom has kept us smiling ever since, the ladies wash-kit. Aside from all the essentials you’d expect, the clever thinkers at Hillside, had even included hairbands and lipsalve for those holiday SOS moments. Our first experience of such hotel-planning genius and we hope not the last!
Saying goodbye to Hillside was harder than we’d expected. But why we hear you ask? The Hillside Beach Club more that satisfies a variety of holiday needs; water sports for adrenaline junkies, yoga and light dining for the health-conscious, Kidside for tired parents and energetic little ones, and tranquil areas for those in search of complete relaxation. Together these options ensure a stay at Hillside Beach Club is ‘your stay’. For Glam that entailed sunrise yoga, Sanda Nature Spa treatments, adventures on the sea, tasty fish suppers and retiring to our room before midnight struck. For you it could be something different and that’s where the beauty of this resorts lies, their ability to accommodate various holiday needs.
