I have to say Y-3 was one of my favorite shows this season. Although Mr. Yamamoto himself was in absentia (as he kindly let guests know via a note on each seat), he sent British band The Duke Spirit and a host of True-Bloodilicious vampire boy and girl models to keep us company. Though he literally left us in the dark.
As per usual, the show was in the cavernous Park Avenue Armoury venue. The heavens decided to open that day, and guests were wet and much delayed in getting to the show, which started more than thirty minutes late and meant many a journo/blogger/buyer missed Thakoon thereafter. But I have to say, if something had to keep me from the first lady’s favorite designer, Yohji was the man to do so. Whilst the rest of NYFW thus far had basked in the lightness of neutrals reliving a Calvin Klein style minimalistic heyday, Mr. Yamamoto for his Adidas line turned out a sporty, edgy, chain ridden, Edward Cullen filled collection of cool urban sportswear.
