MFW S/S11: Fendi

By  September 27, 2010

FENDI is the burning summer of passion…” wrote Karl Lagerfeld in the opening lines of the Roman furrier’s signature mustard yellow show notes. I don’t know what Mr. Lagerfeld gets up to on his holidays, but the vibe was definitely that of carefree summer days circa 1976, less intense passion more youthful summer of love.

Sexy gave way to cuteness as baby dolls in crisp whites with a print to mimic the curled ends of burnt paper. Rubber stamped organza, woven leather and nylon seersucker produced an explosion of color, such a refreshing sight after the long neutral hall that was NYFW SS11. Geometric cuts and primary colors lent the collection that 70′s feel which is so on trend this season and a host of strong boxy handbags and satchels rendered in supple skins tied the whole collection together. The shoes, wood and cork chunky platforms in neturals, olives and tans contrasted with vividly pigmented brights are sure to be on the feet of every and any “it” girl this season.
