The seventies heyday is set to stay a little longer after Gucci showed a romantic collection for autumn/winter 2011 during Milan fashion week. Forgetting the more-is-more approach to dressing, the Gucci lady excelled in glamour whilst revelling in woollen luxury. Cropped pea coats, flared trousers and polo-necks all graced the runway.
Mixing together the opulence of peacock blue, sprays of green and the utterly rich burgundy, the new collection banished black in statement fashion. Adding to the drama, fur stoles adorned the necks of the Gucci-clad daytime, evening and night-owl ladies.
Textures ranged from the fluid to the fluffy in an array of clashes, culminating in a climax of chiffon. The trailing memory of such a creation is one that will catapult this collection come autumn/winter 2011.
