On the same day that the Gucci lady went back to the seventies, the Alberta Ferretti lady delved into her wardrobe and came out clad in sixties style. Leaving behind previous floaty collections, autumn/winter 2011 has marked a definite change in direction at the Italian design house, most pointedly with the use of a ‘crack’ pattern.
Splitting the collection in two, day wear took the practical form; tunic dresses, spacious coats and V-neck lines were all seen on the catwalk. Yet all was not lost as never-ending velvet boots vamped up the looks. For the evening, Ferretti hinted at glamorous gothic with layered black, flowing chiffon and capes of dark fur.
Whilst the collection as whole may look a little confused, the individual looks infused sophisticated shine onto the Milan runways.
