If you’re looking for a taste of Asia, but are restricted by time and holiday (and, dare we say it, money), then an appointment at Mandara Spa at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge could be the travel ticket you’re after…
Welcoming their first guests last year, Mandara Spa at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge marked the European debut for the global brand. For some, this may have caused a serious headache: a new breed of spa clientele to appease coupled, with the capital’s stiff spa competition. But if this was the case, Mandara Spa certainly hasn’t shown any sign of distress. Today, they’re firmly rooted in the London beauty scene, offering an east-meets-west haven with an opulent treatment menu.
Occupying the basement level of the building, the spa is a seamless extension of the modern and contemporary environment created by the hotel above. Access is gained via a designated lift – be sure to ask for directions at reception to ensure a hassle free descent – that not only transports you to another floor, but also to another world – one that is inspired by their Balinese roots.
Within the spa, nine sleek, yet Asian authentic treatment rooms, (1 double, 8 single), are the setting for the wide choice of beauty options on offer. Guests can choose between indulging face and body treatments; the first is designed by famed spa brand Elemis and the second, by Mandara. It is the second, which gives the spa its unique edge, most notably their signature Balinese Massage (£135): eighty minutes of massage heaven (complete with stroking, skin rolling and pressure techniques) that encourages circulation and lymphatic drainage. If this makes it sound more practical than pampering, rest assured, it’s not.
Aside from the spa, on site there is a fitness centre (certain treatments include free access to this ) that lends itself perfectly to extending relaxation time. Guests can enjoy a relaxing swim, before heading into the sauna and steam to reap the benefits. Alternatively the spa also offers Finishing Touches: a trio of payable extras. The option for glass of bubble (£15) caught Glam’s eye!
All in all, Mandara Spa offers a fab experience right on the London doorstep.
