LFW S/S11: Christopher Kane

By  September 22, 2010

Who would have thought that drugs and royals could produce such fabulous results? But on the Christopher Kane runway it was clear to see. Quoting “Princess Margret on crack” as the muse for his spring/summer 2011 collection, Christopher has created contemporary elegance of the neon spectrum.

Neither shying away from material nor colour, the new collection is full of innovation. At first glance it would seem that there is an extensive use of fluoro lace on twin sets, dresses and jackets yet this is mis-guided as it is in fact vinyl coated perforated leather.

Just in case the royal references didn’t cause enough of a stir, Kane has incorporated the yakuza’s, (Japanese gangsters) tattoos into his prints. Used on sophisticated below the knee dresses irony has never looked so good.

All in all the good girl has gone very bad at Christopher Kane… don’t be fooled by sensible knee-skimming hemlines or sophisticated jackets!
