LFW A/W 12-13: Topshop Unique

By  February 20, 2012

If it is possible to love every piece in a collection, this is the one. I loved it so much that I am almost willing to skip summer and head straight to the comfy sheepskin overcoats, black silk velvet trousers and amazing green python print jumper with batwing sleeves. Wide leg leather trousers teamed with comfy knits seem like the perfect combination for a winter’s day while parkas with quilted arms and sheepskin cuffs are firmly on my Christmas list.

It is the outerwear that forms the basis for the strong A/W 12-13 Topshop Unique collection. Fierce zip detailing teamed with more feminine dresses brought a balance to the collection while lace up patent heeled booties kept the overall feel very urban.

The print for next season is a cross motif which was seen on knitwear and relaxed shirtdresses while heritage tweed and houndstooth were worked into dresses and little kilts. Some were re-worked with leather and waffle textured jersey.

And, surprise surprise, there was a lot of burghundy. This colour is going to be a big thing next season as well as khaki, claret and rust. And last but not least – velvet. There was one boilersuit in the collection in black velvet but don’t fear, for those who aren’t 6ft models the silk blouses teamed with velvet trousers were a more sophisticated option. Let the countdown to winter 2012 begin.
