Roksanda Ilincic is a hot property right now both in the fashion scene and for dressing both Michelle Obama and the Duchess of Cambridge in the colourful showstopping dresses she is known for. For A/W12-13 there was a shift in her collection from these red carpet creations to more varied shapes, lots of fur and a focus on outerwear.
Known primarily for her silk colour blocked gowns, this season was more pared down, still bright in parts – dresses with vibrant green sequined arms in checked patterns and turquoise, navy and purple but with grey sweatshirts and jersey tops.
Fur was central to the collection as shoulder pads, a hood on the most glamorous sweater I have ever seen and one incredible ankle length coat. The balance between sophistication and off-duty glamour came in the form of beautifully tailored trousers teamed with big Parka coats and, of course, a little bomber jacket (these are a big trend for next winter).
Just to remind of us of what she does best, Roksanda closed the show with a high-necked white crepe silk gown before popping out to take a bow, her signature red lips thrilled that the crowd loved the commercial new direction she has taken.
