LFW A/W11: Burberry Prorsum

By  February 21, 2011

Jean Shrimpton was the inspiration behind Christopher Bailey’s autumn/winter 11 show for Burberry Prorsum. With Anna Wintour front row opposite Rachel Bilson, Alexa Chung, The Kills and Kate Bosworth, there was a excitable atmosphere like nowhere else at London Fashion Week. In a huge venue in Kensington Gardens, music from Dusty Springfield filled the room as models showed off next season’s covetable attire.

Oversized cropped cape jackets came in green, red and yellow checks in thick blanket material perfect for winter and patent toggle buttons gave the styles a huge catwalk impact. A coat with “snow crystal” coating glistened in the lights while a myriad of wedge heels in various guises (including golf shoes), completed the looks.

The Sixties were an obvious influence in the flat caps, bubble shapes and dresses with cut out panels that were teamed with vouminous capes and tunic coats. Epic as it was, the show still managed to finish on a high with snow falling on the catwalk as the models made their final foray in transparent plastic macs that you know will be a hit when next winter comes!
