The words ‘back to school’ have always filled me dread. No more late nights, lie-ins, denim or daytime tv – enough said! However, if my uniform been anything like Simone Rocha’s spring/summer 2013 collection, and my beauty look like her girl, this would never have been the case I’m sure.
Aiming to recreate the teenage beauty look – lower lid eyeliner – but with a 2013 update, Shinobu for MAC used a mix of metallic pigments and a MAC Water Based Mixing Medium. She applied to the eye following the natural shape. The result was a golden liner that roused even the weariest of beauty journos on the last day of London Fashion Week.
The hair at this show deserves some serious appreciation too. Our first encounter of the season with the faux-fringe, James Pecis had worked hair magic for “one of his favourite shows,” he told us. Inspired by skateboarder and artist Ed Templeton, and his images of “kids making out” as James put it, the look was part fringe, part ponytail and part twist. It was all about portraying the appearance of youth.
